Louisiana's Republican Senate race is set to begin with a closed-party primary for its congressional races, with the Republican and Democratic primaries set for May 16. On the Republican side, incumbent Sen. Bill Cassidy is up against three opponents: Louisiana Treasurer John Fleming, U.S. Rep. Julia Letlow, and first-time candidate Mark Spencer. The campaign is also focusing on immigration reform, with some candidates arguing that the federal government should not implement comprehensive immigration reform. Key issues include diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI), which Cassidy argues is not a good thing and should be abolished.
