The Avon Lake City Council approved several measures, including traffic-safety rules, technology contracts, and a major land purchase tied to regional water service. The council also asked officials to review an Ohio House bill that they believe could weaken local control over development. Councilman Rob Shahmir raised concerns about House Bill 361, which he claimed would limit municipalities' ability to scrutinize or slow development projects. Shahmir argued that long-term projects should undergo thorough review before moving forward. Council also approved several routine and policy items, including liquor-license reviews, new roadway rules for certain vehicles, budget and purchasing legislation, and two measures related to city technology operations.
