Netflix has faced criticism over its coverage of Major League Baseball's opening night coverage, following its airing of Yankees-Giants as part of MLB Opening Day. The company had previously faced similar issues during its boxing coverage, which led to a $50 million lawsuit over the quality of streaming. Critics have pointed out non-baseball personalities being used and a new-look scorebug being cited as primary issues. However, host Elle Duncan, who joined Netflix after a lengthy tenure on ESPN, defended the broadcast, stating that it was intended for a broader audience beyond traditional baseball fans and that baseball fans were expecting something they didn't fully get.
