CPU shortages loom as PC makers scramble for chips

A new industry report reveals that lead times for processors are increasing, making it harder for manufacturers to finish and sell consumer PCs. Processors are notoriously difficult to produce compared to their component costs, leading to shortages in manufacturing capacity like this. The report also revealed that server deliveries have decreased from two weeks to two or three months, with at least one reporting a wait time of six months. Intel has reportedly raised CPU prices for PC makers, focusing on the server market. However, an executive for consumer gaming PCs said that paying more may not necessarily increase supply. This is not the first time the company has seen shortages for Intel chips, and this will be a particularly bad situation for Intel.
