Brian Herring, the principle performer of BB-8 in the Star Wars movies, has stated that the sequels are no more polarizing than the prequels and that in 10 years' time, they will be loved like the ones they originally were. Herring believes that the current backlash is due to the age of the internet and that younger people are more likely to be disillusioned with the sequels. He also mentioned that the sequel trilogy is still in the works and that the upcoming movies, including the upcoming Rey movie and the scrapped Ben Solo movie, are also being discussed.
