National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is Saturday, April 25, is a time to clean out any expired or unused medications from your medicine cabinet and drop them at a designated location in your community. This is not just about spring cleaning, but also environmental concerns. The FDA has reported that in 2023, over 60,000 emergency department visits and 450,000 calls to poison centers for kids under 6 who have ingested medication they weren't supposed to. The Colorado Springs Police Department encourages people to dispose of their old medications in the most appropriate manner possible. In Colorado Springs, you can drop your old meds at the following locations between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., including the Pueblo Municipal Justice Center parking lot, where the battery is removed.
