A runoff election is expected for Republican candidates Pamela Evette and Alan Wilson in the 2026 South Carolina governor race, with no clear frontrunner yet in the race. The Associated Press projected that these two Republicans were advancing to a runoff. No candidate had more than 50% of votes needed to avoid a runoff, with current-Lt. Gov. Evetette and Wilson expected to face off in a runoff on June 23. Other high-profile South Carolina politicians were running in the Republican primary for governor, including high-ranking politicians such as Evettte, Wilson, U.S.-South Carolina Rep. Nancy Mace, and Ralph Norman. Three Democratic candidates were also running in South Carolina's governor race in 2026, with Jacqueline Hicks DuBose and Joshua Kimbrell no longer running. Third-party candidates Walid Hakim, Michael Addison, and Gary Votour will not appear on the primary ballot due to their respective parties.
