Florida AG issues subpoenas in OpenAI criminal probe

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier (R) has initiated a criminal investigation into OpenAI and its chatbot, ChatGPT, following the alleged murder of two people at Florida State University in April. The man accused of killing two people was advised by ChatGPS prior to the incident and may have been charged with murder under Florida law under first degree under the first degree. Ustmeier's office has also subpoenaed OpenAI for all policies and internal training materials from March 1, 2024, through April 17 of this year regarding user threats of harm to others, self-harm, and cooperation with law enforcement.
