Former federal immigration prosecutor and whistleblower Erez Reuveni, who was fired last year after opposing the Trump administration's legal approach to deportations, has complained to Congress that the Justice Department's Office of the Inspector General (ODG) is not doing its job investigating any serious allegations of misconduct over the past 15 months, including those made by members of Congress. His lawyers argue that the entire system of accountability for the Justice Dept. is now defunct. ReuVENi had previously complained to the inspector general and Congress about his belief that Justice Department leaders under the new Trump administration were intentionally misleading courts and not interested in following court orders. The Office of Professional Responsibility, which has fewer than three dozen employees, is accused of having little ability to seriously investigate internal investigations.
