The Omaha Police Department is investigating an officer-involved shooting following a kidnapping in central Omaha. The incident occurred around 9:15 a.m. at the Walmart on 72nd and Pine streets. 31-year-old Noemi Guzman had kidnapped a 3-year old boy with a large kitchen knife, cutting him across the face. Two patrol officers shot Guzman and pulled the child from the cart, but she died at the scene. The child is being treated at Children’s Hospital for a minor laceration. The officers involved have been placed on critical incident leave per department policy.
