Eswatini court rules first Trump deportees in jail have right to lawyer

A court in Eswatini has ruled that the first five migrants sent to the country by the Trump administration have a right to a lawyer following their transfer from the U.S. to a Swazi jail in July. The court rejected the government's claim that the detainees had not specifically requested the human rights lawyer Sibusiso Nhlabatsi represent them. The decision only applies to the initial five arrivals, but it could potentially set a precedent for the others. The detainees are among at least 19 third-country migrants that were deported by the administration as part of its crackdown on immigration.
