Peter Jackson updated fans on The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum, two years after the announcement of a live-action LOTR spinoff with Jackson producing and Andy Serkis directing and starring. Jackson also mentioned another announcement, which was first hinted at back in 2024, that the film is not only the only Tolkien movie being developed. The film, which will follow Gollom, will arrive in theaters on Dec 17, 2027. Other actors involved in the original trilogy have also returned to co-write the film. However, this announcement did not confirm fan speculation about who might return to the franchise.
