Deon Baber, a 53-year-old motorcyclist from Las Vegas, died after his motorcycle crashed into a barrier on a Desert Inn Road overpass on March 14 and fell onto Interstate 15 below. His family has called for additional safety measures for the busy roadway. The barrier he crashed into measures under 3 feet tall. They believe if the jersey barrier had been taller, Baber would still have survived. A petition started by his family to raise the guardrails on the Desert Inn overpass has over 300 signatures. However, the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) has not commented on whether it would consider altering the wall.
