Darien Police Chief Thomas is retiring after 11 years in the role. Thomas was appointed as interim chief in November 2015, and ended up becoming the department's permanent chief. He has been closely monitoring crime statistics and supported the SAFE-T Act, which ended cash bail. Thomas also supported the law's requirements to use body cameras and maintain disciplinary records. The police department has two deputy chiefs.
