The House Republican minority's hopes of a $3,800 Permanent Fund Dividend were thwarted when a vote to amend the amount passed, reducing it to about $1,500. The final vote on the operating budget is set for Monday. The idea was put forward by Rep. Jeremy Bynum, R-Ketchikan, who voted against increasing the dividend. Two minority members also voted to remove language from the budget that would have allowed a vote on a nearly $1.5 billion draw from the state's savings account, the Constitutional Budget Reserve. To reach this dividend, a $1-5 billion drawing from the CBR was required. The dividend fund will now be set at roughly $992 million.
