South Bay jail inmate dies after suffering medical emergency

A 19-year-old male inmate from the Elmwood Correctional Facility in Milpitas, California, died after suffering a medical emergency. The man was found unconscious around 11:35 p.m. Saturday and began breathing with several doses of Narcan, a drug that rapidly reverses opioid overdoses, given. Despite efforts to revive him, he was pronounced dead at 12:15am. The sheriff's office is investigating the death alongside the district attorney's and coroner's offices.
