An infant has died and the baby's mother has been hospitalized following a crash in a private ambulance in Philadelphia. The vehicle was driven by the child's grandfather, who police allege was under the influence at the time of the accident. The private ambulance was driven at a high rate of speed and was not operating in emergency status with lights or sirens activated, according to a preliminary report from the Philadelphia Police Department. The crash left both the infant and infant daughter, identified as Marian Harris, thrown from the ambulance. The infant's grandfather was taken to the hospital and is expected to face several charges, including driving under influence. No charges have been filed yet.
