‘More than a race’: Adaptive athletes unite ahead of Boston Marathon to champion autism inclusion

The Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for autism held a 20-mile training run in Boston ahead of the Boston Marathon. The event was attended by athletes from across the country and saw 300 to 350 runners compete along the Boston Marathan route. The foundation has donated over 30 million dollars to schools that provide clinical therapies, recreational programs, social skills training and job support for students with autism. Since the early 2000s, the foundation has been involved with the Boston marathon. This year the foundation hopes to raise $500,000.
