The disorder produces disturbing, violent thoughts that convince the sufferer that they want to harm themselves or others. These thoughts are often inconsistent with a person's values and distressing for the patient, and often conflict with their own beliefs. OCD patients often believe they are a terrible person and often struggle with self-control or self-expression. The most common subtype of OCD is pedophilia-OCD, which is an obsessive fear of becoming a pedophile. The author shares her personal struggles with relationship-OCCD (ROCD), which causes her to overanalyze her relationship with her partner and others, and to question her own values when she is constantly bombarded with these thoughts.
