San Francisco plans citywide expansion of curbside EV chargers

San Francisco is planning to expand its curbside EV charging stations through new public-private partnerships. The expansion will focus on areas where roughly 70% of city residents live in multi-unit dwellings, making home charging inaccessible. The city is also working to install curbsside chargers in the Dogpatch and Treasure Island as part of the EV charging pilot program under former Mayor London Breed. Mayor Daniel Lurie and Board of Supervisors president Rafael Mandelman are leading legislation to create long-term permitting pathways for more EV charging, which would streamline the process for private vendors to apply for and install infrastructure.
