Glenn Fisher, a veteran in Louisville, Kentucky, is trying again to receive his Purple Heart, which he believes he earned during World War II. Fisher enlisted in 1943 and began serving in the Army 83 years ago, and changed his birth year to meet the age requirements. He served in England in 1944 and was deployed to parts of France and the Netherlands in 1945, but was wounded by German fire during the Rhine River crossing. While two men were killed and 14 more were injured in that incident, Fisher's injury record had the date listed incorrectly. He also lacks documentation from the day he was wounded. As Fisher turns 100 this year, his friend, Jeff Thoke, is urging the Army to reconsider his application.
