The NFL Annual Meetings in Phoenix, Arizona, will decide on five rule changes for the 2026 season, but no ban on the tush push will be discussed this year. The play was two votes shy of being banned at last year's annual meetings. However, NFL Competition Committee co-chair Rich McKay stated that discussions about the play will continue. The move comes despite recent success of teams such as the Eagles and Bills. The league requires 24 of 32 votes to approve a rule change. The proposals include allowing the kicking team to declare an onside kick at any time during the game, which has had a lower success rate since the onside rule changes took effect in 2024.
