After 47 Days Stuck in the Middle East, a Cruise Ship Has Reportedly Cleared the Strait of Hormuz

After over a month of being stuck in the Persian Gulf due to ongoing military conflict in the Middle East, a Greek-based cruise ship, Celestyal Cruises' Discovery, has reportedly cleared the Iran-controlled Strait of Hormuz, clearing it. The opening of the waterway has cleared the path for cruise ships still stranded in the region to return home. This follows a U.S. naval blockage for Iranian ships, which remains in effect for them. The International Maritime Organization (IMO) estimated that around 20,000 seafarers are on board the hundreds of ships stranded west of the Strait. On Feb. 28, the U., along with a joint attack with Israel against Iran, Iran responded to a series of drone and missile strikes across the region.
