Jordan Miller, the sole survivor of a 2024 Tesla Cybertruck crash in Piedmont that killed three friends, is suing Tesla over its electronic door-opening systems. The lawsuit alleges that Tesla knew selling its vehicles without external door handles posed a deadly entrapment threat. It also alleges that the company prioritized aesthetics over function. Miller's injuries included severe burns to his airways and lungs, third-degree burns to the leg and hand, and damage to his intestines and broken vertebrae. His lawsuit is part of a larger body of litigation criticising Tesla's electronic doors, with at least 15 deaths reported in incidents where occupants or rescuers were unable to open the doors of a Tesla that had crashed and caught fire.
