Kazuaki Kojima, a 41-year-old municipal official from Ukiha City Hall, has been arrested on suspicion of violating the Road Traffic Act and failing to report an accident. The incident occurred at 1:00 a.m. on the same day as Kijima crashed his car into a river and fled the scene, only to fall asleep at his office. Kijim, who tested over the legal limit for alcohol hours after the crash, was found asleep inside the Ukih City Hall building. The city of Ukiho has issued a formal apology and will implement measures to prevent future incidents.
