New Newark student Alexander Alvarez, 13, was granted a life-changing wish by the Make-A-Wish Foundation to spend a day immersed in trauma medicine. The foundation's mission is to grant wishes to children aged 2 to 18 who have critical illnesses. Alexander was transported to the scene of a bicycle accident where a woman was seriously injured and needed to be transported to a hospital. While initially interested in becoming a trauma surgeon, Alexander has a particular interest in anesthesiology. His experience helped him clarify his future and he is currently deciding on a career.
