NASA's Artemis II Astronauts are undergoing a major upgrade to their Apollo-era restroom facilities, replacing the plastic bags used by the astronauts. The Canadian Space Agency has revealed that the Artemis 2 mission will be equipped with a fully functional toilet, unlike the Apollo era. The toilet has been adapted from the International Space Station’s Universal Waste Management system, which uses air instead of gravity to direct waste. If the system fails, astronauts will revert to the Apollo toilet for about 50 years. The missions aim to explore new ways to make space travel and potential space colonization more accessible and comfortable.
