A boy, 7, was allegedly locked in his father's utility van for over a year, leaving him malnourished and unable to walk. The boy's father allegedly put him in the van in November 2024 to protect him from his stepmother who wanted to send him to a psychiatric hospital. After forcing the van open, police found the child lying in a fetal position, naked, covered by a blanket, and near excrement. The father has been charged with abduction, confinement, or arbitrary detention of minors under 15 years of age. The couple's two other children, ages 12 and 10, have been placed in the care of social services.
