The controversy surrounding reality star Taylor Frankie Paul and her ex-boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen, is raising awareness about the psychological tactic, known as DARVO, which occurs when a perpetrator puts the blame on their victim. The term was coined in 1997 by psychologist Jennifer J. Freyd. Paul and Mortensen are also involved in an ongoing police investigation, and their reality show, "The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives," has reportedly stopped filming. A spokesperson for Paul stated that she had endured years of mental and physical abuse and took steps to protect herself and her children from further harm. In 2023, Paul was arrested after a fight with Mortensen and charged with assault, criminal mischief and domestic violence in the presence of a child, but later settled the charges later that year.
