'Not NATO's war': Berlin rejects US call to protect Strait of Hormuz

The German government has rejected a call from US President Donald Trump to NATO allies to protect commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz from Iranian attacks. This comes as many of the Western allies suggest that the US and Israel are solely responsible for the rising oil prices. The German government insists that the purpose of NATO is to protect its territory and there is no mandate to deploy military forces to the Middle East.
