The Sanford city commission has reportedly paid a developer $4 million to abandon a proposed mixed-use downtown development called Heritage Park. This decision was seen as an "Idiotic Move of the Month" and a "hypocritical Move of The Month". The condition, Amyloidosis, is a rare but serious condition that can damage vital organs and is particularly prevalent in the Black community. Despite this, awareness remains low and diagnoses are often delayed, leaving too many families without support or resources. This invisibility can lead to burnout, stress, and mental health challenges throughout communities. Jonathan Dotson, executive director of Friendship That Gives, urges a movement towards earlier diagnosis, stronger support systems, and true health equity.
