Authorities confiscate stolen 2022 Silverado after couple pays Facebook seller $30,000

Alexus Macblain and her husband lost nearly $30,000 after purchasing a stolen 2022 Chevrolet Silverado from a Facebook Marketplace seller. The couple withdrew nearly $31,000 in cash and went to pay the seller in person, but were informed that the truck had a lien that needed to be paid when registering the Silverado at the DMV. They then discovered the truck used to copy the VIN was stolen out of Texas. The Orange County Sheriff's Office confiscated the truck and advised buyers to check their state's Department of Motor Vehicles before completing a transaction.
