Cycling and hiking enthusiasts gathered in Highland Park on March 7 to celebrate the 115th anniversary of International Women’s Day. The annual event, hosted by Dawn Piech, founder of the Facebook group International Women's Day – Together We Ride, took place at Trek Highland Park. The movement, which began in its seventh year, encourages women across Illinois and around the world to ride their bikes in a show of solidarity for women everywhere. The event, which includes 19.3 miles of local paved bike trails and quiet neighborhood streets, also included a post-ride celebration at Trek. Piech plans to launch an official nonprofit in 2021 to inspire individuals to elevate diversity, equity, and inclusion through movement.
