Susan Limb, co-owner of Praline Bakery and Bistro in Bethesda, Maryland, has warned others about a'spoofing' scam that cost her nearly $25,000. Limb received a call from a man claiming to be from her bank on April 16, claiming that someone was about to remove funds from her account. She was initially skeptical, comparing her caller ID to the phone number on the bank's website. The scammer used "spoof" to make her call appear to be a number from her own bank, but still needed codes to steal money. After stealing the money, Limb was advised not to log in to her account for several days before the next time they logged in. A GoFundMe page set up by Limb's daughter has raised almost enough to cover the stolen funds.
