Hanover Central senior pitcher Claire Edgerton is eager to help her team succeed in the upcoming softball season, following a disappointing 5-4 loss to Indianapolis Cathedral in the Class 3A state championship game last year. Edgertert, who is entering her third varsity season, posted a 1.75 ERA and struck out 36 in 32 innings for Hanover Central last year, which coach Sam Antkiewicz admits he probably should have used his No. 3 starter more often. Edgarterton's major offseason focus is sharpening her change-up, a pitch both she and Antkiew believe will be crucial for her this season. She also plays basketball at HanoverCentral and has been tinkering with her pitches for nearly a decade.
