Two witnesses at a House committee hearing stated that a culture that allows for defrauding government programs leads to higher taxes for working families. Republican Kentucky Auditor Allison Ball and CEO of the State Financial Officers Foundation (SFOF), Dr. OJ Oleka, testified at a hearing on "Fraud Prevention: Understanding Fraud in Federally Funded Programs Run by the States". They explained their experiences combating fraud in their shared home state of Kentucky and why the issue should concern all Americans. Ball's office found $836 million of wasted taxpayer money after a massive audit of Medicaid, and she criticized Democratic Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear's administration for not prioritizing the issue. Oleka also expressed his desire to make fraud a non-partisan issue.
