Kansas City's City Market is celebrating National Farmers Market Week with a focus on local food, vendors and community. The market has been marking this event since 1857 and is expected to attract over 15,000 people on peak days. Paula Stocker, the farmers market manager at City Market, described it as one of the oldest and largest farmers markets in the Midwest with vendors representing multiple generations of growers and cultures. The event also partners with Art Garden KC and River Market Flea. The produce available at the market is harvested the day before or the morning of the market, so Stocker said it provides the freshest, tastiest produce available. Visitors include Jon Trozzolo, a longtime visitor who believes in supporting local vendors.
