U.S. President Donald Trump has decided to delay ordering new strikes against Iran by listening to Gulf allies Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. Despite initially planning to carry out "the biggest attack since World War II," he decided to give diplomacy more time to play out. The Gulf leaders, including Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, expressed their preference for a deal rather than an attack. The deal includes a reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran has repeatedly used without authorization as part of its conflict with the U.S., ending its naval blockade on Iran and allowing Iran to export its oil. In exchange, the U., in exchange, will end its naval embargo and allow Iran to continue working out issues that have stalled progress on the deal.
