Former FTC lawyers launch consumer protection law firm

Former Federal Trade Commission (FTC) lawyers Monica Vaca and Kati Daffan have launched a new plaintiff-side consumer protection law firm, Vaca D.C.-based VacaDaffan LLP, adding to the number of small firms launched by departing government attorneys during President Donald Trump's second term. The firm will represent individual consumers and state and local governments. Vaca, who served in the FTC for 23 years, cited consumer harms from artificial intelligence and cryptocurrency as reasons for the firm's creation. They also plan to work on consumer protection issues facing low-income and immigrant communities.
