Nintendo's former PR lead, Kit Wilson, has revealed that Shigeru Miyamoto, creator of Star Fox, knows about the fan theory that all Star Fox pilots had their legs amputated. The theory, which was based on an old Nintendo Power cover artwork for the original Star Fox in 1993, suggests that pilots who do not have legs can stand more Gs than others due to their lack of legs to force blood into them, leading to the theory that they would willingly amputate their own limbs. Miyamoto responded to the question via an interpreter, stating that the team designed the characters in a way to make them feel more human and that they didn't know about the problems pilots can have with blood.
