A study has revealed that Detroit, Baltimore, St. Louis, Toledo, New Orleans and Newark are among the most sleep-deprived cities in the US due to issues such as alcoholism, stress, obesity and smoking habits. Only 26% of Americans currently get at least eight hours of nightly ZZZs, according to a 2024 Gallup poll. The study suggests that where you rest your head rests could be the biggest sleep snatcher, with a mattress that's too soft or saggy causing it to sink, and causing uncomfortable pressure points. Experts also suggest matching mattress firmness to your sleep position, and changing out mattress at least every seven to 10 years.
