OK health experts warn of dangers tied to energy drinks

The family of 17-year-old Texas cheerleader, Larissa Boudreau, has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the distributor of Alani Nu, alleging that she died from an enlarged heart due to excessive caffeine consumption. The lawsuit alleges that there are inadequate warnings on the cans and the wellness-centered marketing of the beverage led to Larissa's death. Health experts in Oklahoma have warned of the dangers of energy drinks, stating they do more harm than good for athletes and cause arrhythmias and can mask children with underlying arrhythias. Despite their popularity, these experts do not recommend these drinks, with Lisa Makil stating that they do not enhance performance.
