The Raptor Trust, a group of wildlife experts in Long Hill Township, New Jersey, has announced that a bald eagle that was pulled from the Hudson River has died after months of rehabilitation. The bird was found to be in "critical condition" and showed signs of improvement, but continued to deteriorate. The Trust also discovered copper toxicity in its system, despite attempts to flush the liquid out of the bird's system. The eagle was 18 years old, relatively young for the species' 20-30 year average lifespan.
