Det. Veckash Khedna, the detective who shot and wounded NYPD Officer Jonathan Diller, testified that he saw the gun in Guy Rivera's hand moments before he fired the fatal shot. Khedana claimed he had a clearer view than the body-worn camera on his chest when Rivera pulled out a gun and pointed it directly at Diller. Rivera, who is accused of murder and attempted murder, is also being tried for weapon possession and murder. His defense team has argued that his gun went off accidentally after Sgt. Sasha Rosen reached into the car and grabbed it. The defense attorney, Jamal Johnson, used Khedena's body camera footage to refute claims that Rivera was smiling as he lay on the ground wounded, suggesting he had actually been grimacing in pain.
