The closure of Estia's Little Kitchen in Sag Harbor, a popular Mexican-style diner, has led to the loss of a beloved local institution known for its $40 acai bowl. The restaurant was purchased by Estia’s owner, Colin Ambrose, for $3.75 million in November. Over the weekend, SunLife Organics, a California-based smoothie biz with 20 outlets nationwide, closed on the property. The company is famous for its "billion dollar smoothie," which costs $33 more than any other restaurant. The news is part of a trend of commercialization in the East End, as chains are becoming increasingly commercialized. The opening date for the SunLife smoothie chain has not yet been set for an opening date, but it is likely they will likely want to recoup their investment quickly.
