Apple's new M5 Pro and M5 Max MacBook Pro models have been reviewed, offering improved performance compared to the previous M4 Pro or M4 Max models. However, early reviews have been critical of the $200 price increase, with CNET stating that an upgrade from 64GB to 128GB will cost users $800. While the new laptop configurations focus on the processing hardware and its performance, the pricing is controversial given the substantial cost of higher-tier configurations and the higher overall cost compared to prior models. Tom's Guide also noted a 15 to 20% performance increase, and battery life was longer by nearly 30 minutes on the 16-inch M5 pro MacBook Pro with the M5Max chip. Gizmodo criticized the M3 Pro for its aging shell and lack of meaningful upgrades beyond processing hardware.
