Left-hander Kash Mayfield, the highest-ranked prospect on the TinCaps' roster and one of the best in the San Diego Padres' farm system, is set to start the season against the Great Lakes Loons in Midland, Michigan. Mayfield had a standout season at Low-A Lake Elsinore, where he posted a 2.97 ERA across 19 starts and a 23.3% strikeout-minus-walk rate. Despite being ranked No. 4 among all players in the Padres' system, Mayfield is not concerned about his prospect status. He aims to be the best player he can be and a good leader for his teammates.
