Police have closed 23rd Street Pawn and Patriot Pawn in Independence, Missouri, one of two east metro pawn shops that were raided by the Independence Police Department on April 30. The raids were part of an ongoing investigation into suspected stolen property and resulted in multiple items being seized. The city of Independence declared the 23rd Stawn building as dangerous and did not specify why it was deemed dangerous. The shop's doors remained closed throughout the day as investigators brought out bags of evidence. Both businesses, which are owned by the same company, have been cooperative throughout the investigation. The police are working to determine the origin and rightful ownership of all seized items.
