Orphaned Coyote Pup From San Diego County Begins New Life As Wildlife Ambassador

An orphaned coyote pup, named "Valentine's Day coyote," or "Val," has been relocated to a licensed wildlife facility in Virginia and will serve as an ambassador for her species. The pup was found alone near a creek and was transferred to the San Diego Humane Society's Project Wildlife program. Staff at the Ramona Wildlife Center provided hands-off care to prevent the animal from becoming accustomed to humans. After a consultation with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, it was determined that Val would not survive on her own in the wild.
