Avatar star Sam Worthington has stated that the sci-fi franchise is "unlike Marvel movies" because there are no outside pressures, which enables more risk-taking. The difference between Avatar and Marvel is that James Cameron's Na'vi epics aren't bound by outside pressures. Worthingon, who plays human-turned-Na'vi Jake Sully, said that the franchise is more like an independent movie when it makes it. A fourth and fifth movie are planned, but it is uncertain whether they will proceed.
